DIN EN 13126-3

The European standard DIN EN 13126 consists of 19 parts. It deals with fittings for windows and French windows. Part 3 of this series of standards has been completely revised.
This standard specifies requirements and test procedures for the long-term functionality, strength, protective effect and mode of operation of operating handles.
The tests carried out by the testing institutes result in a 9-digit classification code, which is structured as follows:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 H3/180 0 3 0 2 2 C1 1

1st place

Continuous operability

  • Class H1/90: 5000 rotation cycles
  • Class H2/90: 10,000 rotation cycles
  • Class H3/90: 20,000 rotation cycles
  • Class H1/180: 5000 turn-tilt cycles
  • Class H2/180: 10,000 turn-tilt cycles
  • Class H3/180: 20,000 turn-tilt cycles

2nd place

  • Class 0: no protection against break-in attempts
  • Class 1: 35 Nm, resistance to twisting and tearing
  • Class 2: 100 Nm, resistance to twisting and tearing
  • Class 3: 200 Nm, resistance to twisting and tearing

6th digit

Key-related security

  • Class 0: no locking mechanism
  • Class 1: keyless locking mechanism
  • Class 2: key-operated locking mechanism, number of locking variants ≥ 25 and ≤ 99
  • Class 3: key-operated locking mechanism, number of locking variants > 100

Type of operating handle

  • Application N: without locking function
  • Application C: with locking function
  • Handle design 1: Window handle
  • Handle design 2: Gear handle

8th place

Use category

Class 1 or Class 2 according to Table 5 of the standard. Table 5 contains the main test parameters for the usage category.

Requirements:

  • Actuation torques and detent torques
  • Testing of continuous functionality Fixed pin connection
  • Free play (after testing for long-term functionality)
  • Torsional strength
