As part of Building Regulation List A of the State Building Regulations, fire protection fittings are required to have a certificate of conformity (ÜZ) in accordance with DIN 18273.
This certificate is issued by an authorised testing centre under the following conditions:
- The product complies with the provisions specified in DIN 18273 with regard to design and requirements.
- The product is subject to permanent factory production control (self-monitoring).
- The product is subject to external monitoring by the testing institute.
Structure and characteristics of fire protection fittings in accordance with DIN 18273
- The use is successful on fire and smoke protection doors. All other relevant components such as locks, cylinders, hinges, etc. must also be certified.
- The smooth functioning of fire protection fittings in accordance with DIN 18273 must be guaranteed in the event of a fire.
- As fire doors are differentiated according to the length of time they can withstand fire – T30 = 30 min, T60 = 60 min, T90 = 90 min, T120 = 120 min – the fittings must also meet these respective minimum requirements. Dieckmann FS fittings are designed for T90 doors.
- Fire protection fittings must remain functional even above 1,000°C in the event of a fire. For materials with a lower melting point, such as aluminium or plastic, the handles are equipped with a steel core and the plates or rosettes with steel base constructions.
- As part of the endurance test, in which opening and closing processes are simulated, fire protection fittings are tested in accordance with DIN 18273 with more than 200,000 cycles in order to obtain the Ü mark.
